Symposium: Theodor W. Adorno, zum 100. Geburtstag
3–5 April

The year 2003 marks the centenary of Adorno’s birth. The School of Music will celebrate this event with a symposium on Adorno’s contribution to the field of music studies. The symposium, which will be held 3-5 April 2003, brings together internationally recognized scholars for a discussion of three broad topics: Autonomy and Absolute Music; Mourning and Modernism; and the Culture Industry and Adorno Today. Featured participants include Daniel K. L. Chua (Kings College), Lydia Goehr (Columbia University), Berthold Hoeckner (University of Chicago), Richard Leppert (University of Minnesota), Thomas Nelson (Minneapolis), Sanna Pederson (University of Oklahoma), and Larson Powell (Texas A & M). Panel discussions and lectures will take place from 2-5 p.m. each day.
