News of the Center Welcome Ed Fair to the UT School of Music Ed Fair is joining the faculty of the School of Music as an adjunct professor this fall. He is teaching a course entitled Publishing, Copyrights and Contracts in the Music Business. The course will follow the career of a fictitious music group and will focus on various legal issues that the group encounters on its journey. The class will also address legal and related business issues in all genres of music from hip-hop to classical. Students will be exposed to various copyright aspects as well as key contractual relationships existing in the music business. Since the music business is in a constant state of flux, current developments will always offer points of discussion. Ed Fair is an attorney with over twenty years experience in the music business. He is licensed to practice in Texas, California and Tennessee. He presently resides in Austin, Texas and practiced for several years in Los Angeles. He received his B.A. with Honors at the University of Texas and subsequently graduated from the School of Law at UT Austin. He has a diverse music business legal practice. He represents such platinum artists as Los Lonely Boys and Chamillionaire, yet has also represented the Miro Quartet and Austin's premiere vocal ensemble, Conspirare. << back
